Ready, Set, Read!’ for Summer Reading Challenge

The Youth Sport Trust is excited to be partnering with The Reading Agency for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge to keep children’s minds and bodies active over the summer break.

This year the theme is ‘Ready, Set, Read!’ and delivered in partnership with public libraries, the Challenge will empower young people to forge new connections with others and unleash the power of play, sport and physical activity through reading.

Children are challenged to get reading over the summer holidays. From July to September children can take part for free, receive incentives and join a superstar team and marvellous mascots as they navigate a fictional summer obstacle course brought to life with illustrations by children’s illustrator Loretta Schauer.

We are delighted to say Ivy Lane, Monkton Park and Kington St Michael had some super keen readers taking part and securing their schools a bundle of books, presented to them by a member of the Young Libraries committee Gareth Evans.

It was fantastic to see how the Chippenham Sports Partnership schools embraced the Youth Sport Trust Summer Reading Challenge, showing a love for both literacy and physical activity. This new summer initiative blended the worlds of books and sports, encouraging local children to read and stay active!

Congratulations to everyone who took part.
