We can’t wait for the Year 5/6 football festival to get started! With matches officiated by young officials from Sheldon School the emphasis of the day is on great football, fair play and creating a positive experience for everyone involved.

Format
- 7-a-side, with squads of up to 10
- Mixed and girls’ competitions
- 10-minute matches
- No gender ratio required in the mixed competition
- Medals for the tournament winners
Fair Play & Respect – Players are encouraged to:
- Play their best and play fairly
- Follow the rules
- Listen to and respect officials and coaches
- Encourage their teammates
- Shake hands after every match, win or lose
- Respect the facilities
Matches follow FA Mini Soccer Rules 2026/27, including no offside, no heading, pass-in/dribble-in restarts from the touchline and use of the retreat line at goal kicks.
Important: Shin pads and football boots are compulsory for all players. Schools should also bring bibs, a size 3 football, clipboard and pen.
We ask all schools to share the Code of Conduct for Spectators and Players ahead of the tournament. With young officials supporting the event, we particularly ask players, coaches and spectators to show them patience and respect and help us create a positive, supportive and respectful environment for everyone.

Inclusion Event Friday 20th November – Pupil Voice
An email has been sent to schools regarding our upcoming Inclusion Event. This event will be shaped by feedback from pupils, ensuring their views and experiences help influence the activities and format of the day.
Schools are being asked to gather pupil voice from a range of learners, including those who are highly engaged in PE and those who may be less confident or less active. The feedback received will help us create an event that is inclusive, meaningful and enjoyable for all young people.
