26th Sep – Wellbeing Champions Event – A Day of Mind and Body Fitness!

This week, children from St Paul’s and Monkton Park schools took part in an inspiring Wellbeing Champions Event. The event was all about supporting and improving children’s wellbeing – both mentally and physically – in fun, active and engaging ways.

🧠 Focusing on Mental Wellbeing

The day began with a range of calming and reflective activities aimed at helping children understand the importance of looking after their mental health. Children enjoyed:

  • Breathing exercises to help manage stress and calm the mind
  • Yoga sessions to develop mindfulness and flexibility
  • Gratitude practices to encourage positive thinking and emotional awareness

These activities helped children discover tools they can use in their everyday lives to feel more in control of their emotions and support their mental wellbeing.

💪 Boosting Physical Wellbeing

In the second part of the event, children took to the gym where they had the chance to challenge themselves physically using a variety of exciting equipment:

  • Rowing machines
  • Ski ergs
  • Battle ropes

The children pushed their bodies, got their hearts pumping, and learned how exercise releases serotonin, the feel-good hormone that helps boost mood and energy!

🤝 Teamwork and Togetherness

The event also focused on the power of working together. Pupils took part in team challenges, learning:

  • The importance of communication and cooperation
  • How supporting one another can have a positive impact on everyone’s wellbeing
  • That wellbeing isn’t just individual – it’s shared

A huge thank you to all the school sports ambassadors, staff, parent volunteers and children who made the event such a success. We’re proud to support our young people in becoming true Wellbeing Champions – in school, in sport, and in life! 💚
