Today, we attended a fantastic Football for Fun event for Year 2 girls, giving them an exciting opportunity to try out new skills and drills in a fun and supportive environment. From start to finish, the enthusiasm and energy of the young participants were truly inspiring!
The event began with a lively warm up to the iconic Lionesses song, setting the tone for a morning filled with excitement and teamwork. After the warm up, the girls rotated through eight fun filled stations, each designed to introduce a new skill or technique in a playful and engaging way.
The 8 Fun Stations:
- Dribbling Challenge: A station focused on improving ball control, where the girls navigated cones while keeping the ball close to their feet.
- Target Shooting: Aiming for goals of varying sizes, the girls practiced accuracy and celebrated every successful shot with cheers from their peers.
- Passing Practice: Partnered up, the girls worked on passing techniques, learning to communicate and support each other.
- Obstacle Course: Combining agility and ball control, this station challenged the girls to weave through obstacles and finish with a shot on goal.
- Speed Ladder Drills: Enhancing their footwork and coordination, the girls enjoyed racing through the ladder drills while keeping their energy high.
- Mini Matches: A fun opportunity to put their skills to the test in small-sided games, fostering teamwork and friendly competition.
- Pass to the Keeper: A light-hearted station where the girls tried to keep the ball in the air for as long as possible using their feet and knees.
- Celebration Station: Practicing goal celebrations! This fun activity encouraged creativity and added a touch of joy to the event.
The session ended with a cool down routine to a cheerful boogie, allowing the girls to wind down and reflect on their fantastic efforts.
Throughout the event, it was heart warming to see the smiles, teamwork, and determination from every participant. A huge thank you to our Sports Ambassadors, who led the stations with enthusiasm and professionalism, ensuring that each child felt encouraged and supported.
This event not only introduced Year 2 girls to the joys of football but also emphasised the importance of trying new things, having fun, and working together. A big well done to everyone involved—you were all stars today! 🌟
