Chippenham Games

The biggest event of the year did not disapoint!

Once again, year 6 pupils from across our Partnership Schools arrived at Stanley Park for 2 days of fun! On arrival each group were taken to their allocated changing room to recieve their Team T- shirt before making their way out to the field for a procession led by the talented Samba band!

After this they listened to an inspiring speech by Mrs Percy (Hardenhuish), Mr Norgrove (Abbeyfield) and Mr Spurdell (Sheldon). We were also joined on day 2 by Mr Cutler and Dr Simpson.

Pupils then made their way around the following fun stations:

Indo Boarding – PH Sports

Fitness – Don Deedigan Martial Arts

Golf – Brad Rossitor, Chippenham Golf Club

Lacrosse – In2Sport

Dance – Jax Dance

Archery – Up and Under Sports

Touckball – Up and Under Sports

Face painting

Mini Marathon

Orienteering

Laser shooting – Bernie

At the end of the day we were treated to another speech from Ashley (Apple a Day Supply) and Pete Cousins (Wiltshire Council) before everyone joined together in a group dance! This year we were also lucky to hear a rendition of Rick Astleys ‘Never Gonna Give You Up!’ led by Stanley Parks Paul Harvey! With the number of pupils involved and enthusiasm shown I am sure it even rivalled his Glastonbury performance!

As always this event could not run without the Sports Leaders from each of the secondary schools, who were exceptional this year in leading the groups around.

We would like to thank all of the leaders, coaches, staff at Stanley Park, Headteachers and teachers who support this event, as well as those who have financially supported the Partnership to allow this event to go ahead. Watching the year 6’s try new activities whilst making new friends is always a delight to see.

2023 – another wonderful Chippenham Games! Roll on next year!
