PE Lead Meeting – Looking Ahead to an Exciting Year

The PE Lead meeting was an inspiring start to the year, packed with ideas and opportunities to enhance our school’s PE and sports provision. We focused on key events and initiatives that will shape the year ahead, including the dance festival, girls’ football development, and participation in the Chippenham Games.

The dance festival promises to be a highlight of the year, with plans underway to showcase students’ creativity and movement skills. This event offers a fantastic opportunity for pupils to express themselves and build confidence while celebrating the arts within PE.

We also discussed expanding girls’ football participation and development. This initiative aims to engage more girls in the sport, providing them with opportunities to train, compete, and build confidence both on and off the field.

The Chippenham Games were another key topic of discussion. This community focused event will bring schools together in a celebration of sport and teamwork, giving students the chance to represent their school and develop their competitive spirit in a supportive environment.

It was fantastic to welcome Fiona from Game On Charity, who shared insights into supporting inclusive sports programs, and Neil from British Fencing, who introduced exciting ideas for incorporating fencing into our curriculum. Additionally, Sarah Moon from Create Development joined us to discuss approaches to building physical literacy and embedding physical activity in everyday school life.

The meeting reinforced the importance of collaboration and innovation in delivering outstanding PE. With such a strong lineup of events and the support of external experts, we’re excited for what lies ahead this year.
